Thirds?

Well a decent fourth place anyway at Sunday night trivia this week, with a more than respectable 81 points. Just a single answer separated us from the $10.00 (ooooh!) third place prize. Damn that Daisy Duke and her cutoffs (which scarily seem to be making a comeback this summer)... Of course she was played by Catherine Bach, and not Bond Girl Barbara Bach. With only two weeks left of the tournament will Hard Dickens Cider get close to medaling? Stay tuned!

Another week another pro bodybuilding contest, this time the 2006 Australian Grand Prix on the Gold Coast. My boy Branch sadly only placed fifth. We'll assume the 14 hour flight caused him to hold more water than he would have liked. However another of my favs, German Ronny Rockel, snatched first in quite an upset. This was "The Rock's" first IFBB Pro win, having been overlooked at many a previous pro show, most recently the 2005 Olympia. The guy's one freaky yet symmetrical dude!

On the way back from trivia I noticed how many of those digital "Don't Drink and Drive. It Saves Lives!" signs there are. It caused me to pause for thought. How about some variation in them like:

"Don't Apply Makeup While Driving. It Saves Lives"

"Don't Use Your Cell Phone Driving 60 Mph. It Saves Lives"

"Don't Eat with a Fork on the Drive to Work. It Saves Lives!"

and "Don't Turn Round to Scream at Your Kids in the Back Seat. It Saves Lives!"

I mean who's stupid enough to drink and drive these days?

According to the CDC "In 2004, about 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics (Department of Justice, 2004). That’s less than one percent of the 159 million self-reported episodes of alcohol–impaired driving among U.S. adults each year (Quinlan et al. 2005)."

Scary eh? Cars should come with breathalizer wheel locks...

You bring up a good point - people do a lot of stupid yet glaringly obvious wrong things... how many people (gays especially) still bareback even knowing the statistics? Smoke knowing cancer rates etc?

But why do the things that are so wrong feel so right? I meant smoking of course...

I like Rocky and his refreshingly lifelike pink color.

Several thoughts on your latest blog entry:
I agree -- Daisey Dukes are making a comeback. Unfortunately, they're appearing on gay men.
I thing Rocky's correct shade is known as "blush."
And how about "Don't Stare At The Hot Guy In The Inappropriately Tight Tank Top & Drive. It Saves Lives!!
